CORINA BARTRA

Corina Bartra is an initiate of various teachings and yogic traditions. She is also a healer and woks with the Chakra System from India and studied non-postural tantric yoga from the Kashmir Shivaism tradition. She studied the teachings of George I. Gurjieff at his Institute of Harmonic Development for Mankind in for 15 years. She completed Kundalini Yoga teachers training and is certified as to teach by the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association. She is also a practitioner of Integral Yoga, founded by Swami Satchidananda, and a dedicated student of classical Indian music.
Corina holds a Master of Arts degree in Vocal Performance, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Percussion. She is also a certified music teacher (in the Orff method) and leads classes in New York City Public Schools. Corina is a vocalist-percussionist who has studied rhythms from around the world and incorporated the various influences into her teachings and a number of pioneering projects. She is known for blending original jazz compositions with the rich, magical traditions of Afro-Peruvian and Brazilian music. For the last 8 years, Corina has dedicated herself to the study of Naad Yoga, immersing herself in North Indian Classical music under the tutelage of teachers Pargit Singh and Lalitha.
Corina is devoted to the sacred chants of India, having created her own enchanting melodies to accompany mantras from the Hindu and Sikh traditions. Her musical recordings Chants from the Seeds of Bliss and Ecstatic Chants from the Infinite exemplify her devotional chants. Corina has led kirtans in Peru and yoga centers throughout New York. She considers spiritual masters Ammachi, Sri Ramakrishna, Osho and Tilopa, and authors Harish Johari and Eknath Easwaran among her greatest sources of inspiration.
